The luminous efficiency of the light source is comparatively lower before LEDs are of common use. Higher power is required accordingly to reach enough brightness. The minimum operating power of the correlated dimmer is therefore higher as well.
When these dimmers are controlling LEDs, lamp flashing is generally caused by losing control when lacking of power.
The power supply circuit averts this problem by adjusting the minimum operation power lower to 1-2W, preserving the best dimming experience even when connecting to merely one lamp.
